I am the employer and mother to my teenage son who has a diagnosis of ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and learning difficulties, My son is extremely isolated but is sociable and enjoys 1-1 attention from adults. He struggles with his confidence and requires a great deal of reassurance and clear instruction and boundaries, as he can become anxious is unfamiliar places. My son has a wicked sense of humour, is inquisitive and at times can ask inappropriate questions of others. He is extremely vulnerable and very friendly, so supervision is always required. He is very energetic and enjoys being outdoors, so someone who is willing to get involved and join in, in all his chosen activities. He enjoys going to gaming, Lego, swimming and being outdoors. Particularly Forest school, going to the beach and walking. He enjoys watching Netflix and particularly enjoys anything related to Wallace and Gromit.
I am seeking a PA who will be able to support him in the community and on social activities, occasionally within the home with 1-1 supervision. This will also allow him time away from home, which will promote his independence. I am seeking a PA who will work closely with him to build a trusting relationship and understanding of my son’s needs. This will help him build his confidence and enjoy new experiences as well as extending his support network.
