The Role A Paralegal position, which subject to satisfactory performance over an 18-month period can potentially lead to a Solicitor training contract, has been created at our offices based in Spinningfields in Manchester city centre to assist our groups growing legal insurance division (Prosperity Insurance). This is an office based role. You will be required to work as part of a team assessing the risk presented on cases brought to us under the relevant insurance policies managed within the division such as After the Event (ATE) insurance, Residential & Commercial Title/Conveyancing Legal Indemnity policies and BTE Probate Executor Insurance. This can vary from setting up new business policy requests and pricing for law firms and introducers on our client portal to then risk assessing and approving initial requests for insurance cover on cases, to then dealing with requests for ongoing indemnity, reviewing reports, reviewing defences, legal research, ensuring payments are received in for policies that are successful, plus any payments that may need to be made outbound together with ongoing file audits ensuring that cases are resolved to a satisfactory conclusion. The ideal candidate will have some experience or knowledge of the insurance or conveyancing industry together with the ability to use their own initiative and be able to comply with and meet monthly deadlines with a good level of attention to detail. They will also be required to support the Head of Insurance & Business Development and the team of 4 Business Development Managers from time to time with any proposals for new business that may be needed, together with possible attendance at industry events, conferences or seminars. We will consider applications from experienced or existing Paralegals who have either worked both in-house with an insurer or who are from private practice. Candidates should be confident to work as part of a team as well as on their own using their own initiative and have strong organisational and administrative skills, together with the ability to communicate at all levels. The role on offer would suit candidates who have successfully completed a Law degree and those who have also completed or are working towards completion of their LPC, as the 4 previous holders of similar positions all progressed internally within the group businesses onto a training contract (or are now fully qualified), which there also would be on offer here to the successful candidate after a set period of time and subject to their individual performance in the Paralegal role.
