About the Role:
Volunteer to help Sue Ryder be there when it matters! Do you have a passion for bikes and love to repair, reuse, and recycle? If so, this could be the role for you! Our Bike Workshop is an exciting and popular venture for Sue Ryder, based at our Luton Sue Ryder charity shop. Started in mid-2022, it is very popular with the community and we are looking for volunteers to join the Bike Workshop team.
You will help us with the bike donations that we receive, helping to restore them ready for sale. You will be one of the store’s friendly faces who will help us to provide the best customer experience whilst playing an important role in raising funds for our charity work.
The Role – Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and assessing donated bicycles
2. Minor mechanical repairs/refurbishment and conducting safety checks of bicycles ready for sale
3. Sorting, labelling, pricing of stock
4. Greeting and helping customers
5. Maintaining shop displays, re-stocking
6. Light cleaning/tidying duties to keep the shop inviting and well presented
About You:
As a Bike Workshop Refurbishment and Repairs Volunteer you will:
1. Have an interest in repairing items and using tools (training provided)
2. Have an eye for detail
3. Enjoy helping and engaging with customers
4. Be enthusiastic and pro-active
5. Enjoy working as part of a team
Experience of bicycle mechanics would be advantageous but not essential.
