My client is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team.
Ideally, the candidate should have 5 years of industry work experience with an extensive understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
1. Heavy industry equipment / Automotive / Commercial vehicles experience
2. Experience leading work packages on their own
3. Proven experience in product development and product release
4. Ability to design systems from first principles, including hand calculations, circuitry derivation, and electrical systems design
5. Understanding of industry standards and their application to designs
6. Design and implement systems: Design electrical systems for buildings, power distribution networks, and transportation systems
7. Test and inspect: Conduct tests and inspections to ensure systems and equipment are safe, efficient, and reliable
8. Analyse systems: Identify hazards, defects, and the need for repairs
9. Manage projects: Schedule construction and maintenance projects, ensuring they are delivered on time
10. Collaborate: Work with management, engineers, and technicians to design and apply new systems
11. Provide technical leadership: Provide technical support and leadership to employees and contractors
12. Ensure compliance: Ensure systems and equipment comply with codes, safety standards, and customer requirements
13. Prepare specifications: Prepare specifications for purchasing electrical equipment and materials
14. Perform calculations: Perform calculations to establish standards and specifications
15. Estimate costs: Estimate material, labour, and construction costs for budgeting
16. Basic understanding of CFD
Roles and responsibilities
Reporting to the design and engineering manager, you will be expected to:
1. Support our apprenticeship scheme.
2. Lead and take ownership of work packages from concept through to manufacture, including design specification, customer relationships, project management, and product design for manufacture.
3. Complete FMEA activities where required.
4. Contribute to the production of new innovations.
5. Support the manufacturing team as required.
6. Contribute to shop floor activities when required.
7. Lead quality, health & safety, and environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
8. Manage and monitor engineering change notifications and corrective actions reporting.
9. Create test and development plans.
Your skills and education
Ideally, a bachelor's degree in an electrical discipline - Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or Electronic Engineering.
Full UK licence with own vehicle.
Experienced with an industry standard CAD package (SolidWorks ideally).
Good communication skills.
Ability to work alone, as a team, and lead others when required.
Demonstrate a high level of motivation, innovation, and initiative with an ability to train others.
Someone who enjoys a challenge and doesn't get deterred by setbacks.
