We are working exclusively with our client in the Ferndown area to recruit a Buyer for their dynamic team. As the only Buyer, you will take responsibility for buying all items for the business with a focus on IT – Software, Hardware and consumables, electrical and mechanical products for manufacturing purposes, as well as day-to-day office items such as stationery, toilet rolls, etc.
BUYER RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Manage procurement of materials, goods, and services throughout.
* Sourcing and liaising with suppliers to get the best prices and lead times.
* Regularly process MRP: analyse, RFQ’s, negotiate price and delivery dates, and place PO.
* Manage and prepare weekly order reports, chase suppliers, and keep the management team updated.
* Expediting active PO’s.
* Identify EOL items and propose alternatives.
* Monthly Vendor Performance Report – prepare, analyse, raise issues with suppliers and send report to the management team.
* Raise POs for all departments in addition to MRP requirements either via emailed request or Purchase Requisition Form.
* Manage ad hoc stock requirements as well as production stock (stationery, etc.).
* Build and maintain supplier relationships.
* Carry out Supplier Audits as per Purchasing Procedure.
* Inventory management.
* Facilitate Contractors: raise PO, check RAMS, Liability Insurance are on file and prepare Contractor Access Form for authorisation.
* Maintain Monthly Racking Safety Checks in Stores and Production and update register.
* Manage Vendor Returns and NCR’s.
* Work with Finance team to resolve invoice queries.
* Attend BSI and internal audits as required.
* Oversee any delivery and collections.
* Responsible for facilities and vehicle inspections/maintenance.
* Ensure works vehicles are always maintained and usable.
* Receive and distribute post.
BUYER KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
The Buyer will need to be self-motivated, hands-on, and comfortable managing their own role as well as being able to work with a wider team.
* Previous experience in a similar role and use of an ERP system.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Numerically astute with proven problem-solving skills.
* Commercial and Financial awareness.
* Highly focused, flexible, and well-motivated.
* A positive attitude to handling internal and external relationships.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Internal auditing experience a preference.
* Experienced and proficient in Excel.
