GP with Specialist Interest or Specialty Doctor in Substance Misuse

This is a great opportunity to be part of a small dedicated team responsible for the medical care in a 9-bedded unit! To be able to follow people through their complete treatment journey. No on-call and flexible working hours! Up to 10 sessions per week.
The Dame Carol Detoxification Service is a new substance misuse inpatient service opened in January 2022. It is a 9-bedded unit where individuals are admitted for up to 3 weeks for critical stabilization or detoxification to help them move forward in their recovery journey.
Working as part of a small, consistent team with one common goal: to support service users through their inpatient treatment as part of their recovery journey.
As the doctor for the unit, you will admit people to the unit and manage their detoxification and any other health problems during their stay.

Our new inpatient unit opened in January 2022, providing residential care and life-saving interventions for those with addictions. This is often a last hope for vulnerable members of our society to break free from their alcohol and drug use. We provide safe and effective detoxification and stabilization for individuals with alcohol and drug use disorders.
Inclusion, as part of a large NHS Foundation Trust, has partnered with Two Saints - a housing association and well-respected local provider - and 20 Local Authority areas to bring this high-quality specialized care and treatment to the area.

* You will be a GPwSI or a Specialty Doctor (RCGP Level 2 Substance Misuse), with a flexible approach and a desire to work in a team that encourages new ideas and feedback on how to improve the service.
* You will offer up to 10 sessions per week.

* You will be confident in dealing with a wide range of situations and other professionals to provide the best care to service users within the unit.
* You will work in a fully multi-disciplinary team to provide varied and comprehensive interventions.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Medical Degree
* Full registration with the GMC
* Management Qualification
* oRCGP working in substance misuse part I and II (or agreeing to work towards promptly achieving these qualifications)
Experience
* Have experience of working within the substance misuse field
* Demonstrate an understanding of the need for multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
* Up to date with CPD requirements and revalidation.
* Previous management/leadership experience
Skills
* Have specialist knowledge of current initiatives impacting on services.
* Knowledge of drug and alcohol treatment.
* A comprehensive understanding of confidentiality and information sharing including child protection.
* Evidence-based treatment interventions.
* Knowledge of alcohol and drug national bodies.
* Knowledge of therapeutic strategies e.g. CBT.
* Knowledge of the local drug and alcohol field.
