An excellent opportunity has arisen for a System Engineering and Verification Engineer to join Defence Future Programmes, supporting one of our Bristol-based projects such as the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
As a Systems Engineering & Verification Engineer, you will be the focal point for understanding and developing new engineering products and services. You will interface across a number of stakeholders both internally and externally within the company to extract and understand technical requirements and work alongside these stakeholders to develop potential solutions which can be used to serve business and customer needs.
As part of this new team, you will explore and develop new system engineering practices within the company such as the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to assist in understanding potential business and technical architectures and solutions.

What you will be doing:
* Lead Systems Engineering across the entire life-cycle. Integrate with and provide systems engineering coaching or training to engineers from other functions.
* Establish and maintain an appropriate information structure for the project (Customer, Business, System, Sub-System, and Component) and develop/maintain associated management plans.
* Develop product verification strategies and compliance statements.
* Facilitate the elicitation, maturation, and validation of stakeholder requirements including customer, business, and technical to ensure robust problem and solution space understanding.

To be successful in this role you will need:
* Qualified to degree level in a STEM subject with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls).
* A broad understanding of Gas Turbine physical and functional characteristics would be advantageous.
* Capable of systems-level thinking and evidence of deploying Systems Engineering techniques to solve complex problems.
* Evidence of proactive and effective collaboration across different engineering disciplines.
* Experience using Systems Engineering tools such as IBM DOORS or Cameo Systems Modeller and knowledge of standards such as ARP4754A/ED-79A.
To work for the Rolls-Royce Defence Business there may be a requirement for an individual to hold a level of National Security Vetting (NSV). If the requirement is identified, Rolls-Royce will support the application for NSV if the individual does not currently have this in place.
