Job Description Youll be responsible for leading teams of staff to provide support to people with a learning disability across a number of locations, our support is rooted in the Keys to Citizenship. Our Support Managers are typically responsible for 4 teams of staff supporting 7 people in their own homes across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. Youll usually be supported by a small number of Lead Support Workers. Youll know the people we support well and have positive relationships with their friends, families, professionals and communities. Youll ensure that staff are well supported and that their training, supervisions and appraisals are up to date. Youll be the key player in ensuring our values, our focus on citizenship, and our attention to Human Rights are a reality in the day to day support we provide. Youll be responsible for making sure the support we provide is person centred and works for people, their families, but also compliant with the CQC and Local Authority Commissioners. Join our On Call rota (additional payment made) Responsibilities and Duties of the Job Role-specific Duties: LEADERSHIP To demonstrate the values of New Prospects with your teams and people we support in your day-to-day interactions. To coach staff, problem solve to make sure the people we support live the life they choose. To lead by example, show not tell, step in and step up when things get tricky. Be prepared to have difficult conversations when staff performance and behaviour impacts negatively on the lives of people we support. Contribute to the overall direction of the organisation at monthly meetings and annual planning days. Be a point of contact for people we support, families, staff and professionals - dealing with concerns quickly and effectively in consultation with your Service Manager. Be open and honest, ask for help when you are struggling, hold up your hands if you mess up, blow your own trumpet when youve done something great. SUPPORT Ensure accurate records are kept, Nourish is utilised correctly and peoples support plans/risk management plans are accurate, up to date, fit for purpose and designed with them, not for them. Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of people supported by New Prospects. Make sure that support and the rota is designed around the needs and wishes of people we support, not staff. Make sure staffing levels are adequate for the people we support; staff are matched to people we support and arrange cover for sickness or other absences. Stepping in yourself when needed. Be part of our On Call rota to provide out of hours support to people we support and staff. Keep rotas up to date and be responsible for the submission of your staff teams payroll information via the rostering system. QUALITY Facilitate or contribute to monthly review and planning meetings involving people we support, families and staff, learning from what works and what doesnt. Undertake regular audits to ensure we are compliant with the CQC, Local Authorities and the Health and Safety Executive. Lead regular team meetings, offering advice, dealing with problems and offering informal training to improve the support we provide. Make sure people we support are as in control of their lives as possible, using the Mental Capacity Act as your guide. Be proactive, speak to people we support, speak to families, speak to staff regularly quality is never an accident. Person Specification (EEssential Requirement, DDesirable Requirement) NVQ Level 3 or above (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care or recognised Qualification in Health and Social Care (Social Work, Youth Work or Nursing) E Good English - written and verbal E GCSE in Maths D Educated to degree level D Full, clean driving license D 2 years experience leading and supervising teams in Health and Social Care E Previous experience of supporting people with a learning disability, neurodivergence, mental health problems or physical disabilities.
