Job Description:
The Deal Execution team is part of KPMG’s rapidly expanding Strategy Group, delivering value by challenging conventional thinking, bringing industry insights, and executing with investor-grade rigour. We are a diverse team of over 105 practitioners working collaboratively across the Advisory business, focusing on enhancing client value throughout the deal and economic cycle. Our teams include specialists who assist clients from conceptual thinking of buying a business to turnaround strategies in challenging times.
The People in M&A Centre of Excellence manages all aspects of the employee journey in M&A, leveraging experience to enact transformational change outside of deals. This includes strategy development, organisational design for carve-outs, synergy and cost benefits, employee experience, corporate culture, employee transfer, and developing transformational solutions to help organizations achieve their goals. We aim to help clients execute transactions and change efficiently, maximizing value and ensuring smooth transitions.
The Manager role is central to project leadership and delivery, working alongside global organization leaders. Although we work across sectors, there is an opportunity to specialize in specific areas. Our four key client proposition areas are:
* Employee experience: Executing engagement programs that address employee impact, ensuring employees would choose to join the company independently of the deal.
* Organisational strategy development: Developing organization design, people strategy, operating models, synergies, and value enhancements for carve-outs or standalone operations.
* Labour relations and compliance: Managing labour and HR risks globally to meet deal timelines and integration changes.
* HR operations: Delivering HR services efficiently during and after deals, providing high service levels to employees.
Role Overview
In this role, you will lead projects, working closely with senior team members who will guide and enhance your deal knowledge and skills in HR, OD, and strategy. You will also use your change and consulting skills to deliver transformational change outside of deal environments.
Responsibilities include:
* Leading small-to-medium engagements and supporting clients daily
* Due Diligence: reviewing deal reports, analyzing data, providing insights on people aspects, developing benchmarks, and contributing to reports
* Integration & Separation: advising on people strategies, organizational design, developing target operating models, and supporting implementation
* Transformational Change: supporting clients in achieving objectives, designing roadmaps, facilitating workshops, identifying risks, and measuring success
* Wider Responsibilities: stakeholder interaction, coaching junior team members, engagement management, and supporting propositions and tools development
Leadership & Management
The Manager supports mentoring, coaching, and development of junior staff, challenges the team to innovate, ensures quality and value in outcomes, and contributes to business development efforts.
Stakeholder Interaction & Challenges
Demonstrate credibility in advising on complex deals, act as engagement manager, understand client expectations, manage stakeholders, deliver high-quality outputs, and identify opportunities for technology use to improve delivery.
The Person
Work Experience: Background in HR, OD, or Strategy, preferably in M&A; experience in M&A projects, consultation, HR specialisms, team leadership, and business development. Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
Skills: Bachelor's degree (professional qualifications preferred), excellent communication, problem-solving, structured thinking, market understanding, and credibility with clients.
