The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the accounting and reporting team within EUI Finance in Cardiff and will be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering timely and accurate month end reporting, regulatory reporting and the statutory accounts as well as managing and coaching other members of the accounting team.
We’re looking for someone with experience in prioritising multiple deliverables with a clear understanding of what it takes to deliver key regulatory and financial reporting and the processes and controls that support this.
Main Duties
1. Ownership of the month end accounts for the UK Intermediary business including liaison with other finance teams and Group Finance to work through any queries on consolidation
2. Supporting the Statutory accounts preparation
3. Supporting the preparation and review of various regulatory and tax returns
4. Review of work and journals prepared by accountants in the team
5. Developing existing control and accounting processes and drive improvements
6. Leading the development and implementation of accounting processes and controls for new products or projects from the finance change agenda as appropriate
7. Researching technical accounting issues and preparing accounting papers
8. Support the external audit process and internal audit activity and act as a day-to-day contact for the entity
9. The role will also involve line management responsibility, as well as day to day leading, developing and coaching a team of accountants/trainees
10. Providing general support and completing ad-hoc tasks as required by the Finance Manager and Financial Controller
11. Deputising for the Finance Manager as necessary
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience
12. Qualified Accountant with a minimum of - years post qualification experience in a Financial Accounting role
13. Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
14. A focus on supporting and developing individuals to empower them to achieve required outcomes
15. Strong organisational skills – ability to prioritise and plan and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and teams
16. Strong analytical, data interpretation and problem-solving skills
17. Be comfortable with challenging and influencing a range of business stakeholders
18. A continuous improvement mind-set
19. Self-motivator, pro-active in all aspects of the role
20. Strong Microsoft Excel skills
21. Understanding or experience working in the finance team of an insurance intermediary business
22. Line management experience
Location
This role is a hybrid working role with a requirement to attend our Cardiff office once per week. We will give you everything you need to work comfortably from home.
