Formed in 1984, our client is well established and has grown to become a multi-disciplined M&E Building Services provider. They undertake the full spectrum of Building Services Engineering Projects up to £1m in value for both the public and private sectors acting as either Principal Contractor or subcontractor. They have dedicated estimating, project management and installation teams and their in-house services include design and offsite fabrication. They are particularly active in offering turnkey packages for boiler plant replacement.
They are looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic permanent Part Time North West based qualified HSQE Manager. The position is expected to be 3 days per calendar week. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have a keen eye for detail, and good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain strong working relationships within our team, along with having the ability to work to deadlines. The position will afford the successful applicant the opportunity to shape a new integral role within our Project Delivery team.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Manage the ongoing continuous development and implementation of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) management systems, to ensure compliance with legislation.
2. Ensure that legal, regulatory and other external requirements are translated into the policy and standards that provide clear direction to the business on effective and compliant SHE management.
3. Provide expert advice, tools and information regarding current and evolving legislation, enabling the business to make informed decisions and appropriate choices to ensure SHE best practice.
4. Support the Directors in the design, deployment and monitoring of the safety culture improvement programme with a focus on human factors and behavioural safety to foster a positive culture and to drive best practice.
5. Maintain the external verification of systems and processes; ISO45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001.
6. Monitor and report on the continued validity and effectiveness of the SHE Management Systems.
7. Provide direction and support to the site staff, manage their activities, co-ordinate their development, coach them in expected behaviours and monitor their performance.
8. Keep up to date with Sector news and relevant external networks to ensure best practice and ongoing growth within their area of specialism.
9. Ensure team competencies remain current and align to the risk profile of the business.
10. Liaise with appropriate Regulatory Authorities, building relationships to foster positive and supportive partnerships.
Skills / Qualifications
1. NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK).
2. Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational H&S Management.
3. Diploma (or equivalent) in Environmental Management.
4. Internal Auditor qualifications; ISO14001, ISO45001.
5. Experience of providing SHE advice at a management level.
6. Experience and knowledge of establishing and managing H&S and Environmental Management Systems in line with recognised Standards and Certifications within multi-site organisations.
7. Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate with people at all levels within the organisation.
8. Proficient in MS Office.
9. Self-motivated and with a high level of professionalism.
10. The ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks at the same time.
11. The ability to collect and analyse a wide range of data and use it for clear and targeted action plans.
12. Be able to work efficiently in a team as well as on their own.
The successful candidate will have to undergo CRB Clearance.
A driving licence is essential.
Desirable Additional Skills
1. Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards).
2. Associate Membership of IEMA (or working towards).
Remuneration
In return for being hard working, reliable and flexible, we offer a competitive remuneration package including Pension, company vehicle, pro rata 30 days holiday (including Bank Holidays), pro rata circa £55,000 full-time equivalent depending on employment status and experience.
