Teacher of High School Sports Science and Physical Education
UWCSEA is seeking a passionate and committed Teacher of High School Physical Education and Sports Science to join our Dover Campus in August 2025.
The successful candidate must have a tertiary qualification in relevant subjects and a recognised teaching qualification, with successful experience teaching secondary physical education. The successful candidate will teach core Wellness and Physical Education classes for all grade 9 and 10 students and possibly teach our bespoke UWCSEA Sport Science course available as an option to Grade 9 and 10 students. UWCSEA delivers IB DP Sport, Exercise and Health Science at both Higher and Standard level in Grades 11 and 12; prior experience of teaching IB Sport Science would be an advantage.

The appointee will teach mostly in High School, although may also be required to teach some Middle School classes and will play an active role in continually supporting our positive environment in order for all students to thrive.
Main Responsibilities
* Construct learning experiences that challenge students and support the diversity of learners in each class.
* Ensure assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant and appropriate feedback to students.
* Keep parents informed about their children's learning and be proactive in communication with parents.
* Demonstrate effective class management that shows an understanding of the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.
* Support personal and social emotional learning through academic classes, working collaboratively with the Heads of Grade, Counselling, Learning Support, and EAL departments.
* Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Physical Education Department and all elements of the learning programme.
* Capable and willing to coach teams throughout the year as part of the Activity programme.
* Hold a good degree and a recognised teaching qualification or certification.
* Have successful prior experience of teaching Physical Education in the 14-18 age range.
* Have experience of teaching academic PE/Sports Science courses.
* Specific experience of IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science is an advantage.
* Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal skills, experience, and pedagogical knowledge in areas outlined by the UWCSEA Learning Principles and the UWCSEA Profile.
* Collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, self-manage, and think critically and creatively to support teaching and learning.
* Participate enthusiastically in Professional Learning.
* Lead a mentor group unless exempted due to other responsibilities.
* Contribute two sessions per week in each season to Activities and/or Service.
* Participate enthusiastically in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics; Activities; Outdoor Education; Personal and Social Education; and Service.
* Participate in curricular Outdoor Education experiences relevant to students and occasionally volunteer for holiday Outdoor Education trips.
* Commit to diversity and inclusion and adapt pedagogy to meet the needs of learners.
