Quality Assurance and Practice Lead, Ipswich Short Break Service
£12.72 per hour
Permanent part time, 15 hour post available
Hours to suit service need which will include occasional weekends, evenings and mornings to audit staff compliance
Leading Lives provides social care support for people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs in the home and in the community across Suffolk and neighbouring counties. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise, owned by our employees. Any surplus we make is reinvested back into services for our customers or into the local community.
Working closely with our Director and Service Manager you’ll be responsible for ensuring the Short Break team at Burgess House complies with appropriate social care quality standards, such as CQC, Local Authorities and Leading Lives’ policies and procedures. In order to ensure that you are able to audit the service effectively you will at times need to be in the service when the staff and customers are in, which is weekends and between the hours of 3.30pm and 10am.
These services are where customers come for a short break, you’ll get to work with a vast range of individuals who all have different personalities and support needs.

As Quality Assurance and Practice Lead, your role will be to ensure a high standard of care quality is achieved. The role is both office based but will include working alongside the staff on shift to coach, mentor and supervise and audit the service. There will be some weekend/evening work expectations to undertake this role. You will need to be a confident decision maker, able to work efficiently and successfully deliver targeted work volumes.
About The Role
Accountabilities:
· Review and complete compliance/quality audits/spot checks on a regular basis
· Maintain and update care files, medication and H&S records, making recommendations where appropriate
· Ensure customer service needs are met alongside the company’s customer charter
· Work within GDPR guidelines, maintaining confidentiality
· Auditing GDPR practices locally, ensuring standards are met
· Write and update moving and handling risk assessment
· Communicate effectively with the management team, building positive relationships
· Write personal risk assessments for customer support plans
· Acting as a mentor, providing direction, shadowing and support as required
· Supporting with development plans, care certificate, witness testimonials for RQF
· Assess customer requirements/needs
· Support conversations with families

What you need:
· Effective communication skills across a range of contacts
· Experience of working with people in a care setting, including provision of support to those with learning disabilities, intimate care, supporting complex needs and risk assessment
· Awareness of relevant H&S and care legislation
· Quality Assurance experience
· Knowledge and awareness of GDPR legislation
· Knowledge of legal requirements in health & social care
· Competent in total communication and PBS
· Good numerical skills and an understanding of statistics
· Good IT skills
· Good planning and organisation skills
· Good report writing and presentation skills
Your induction
Leading Lives runs a 3 week induction programme: You will be met on your first day by your buddy and be supported through this.
Start date will be confirmed by the recruitment team further to a satisfactory enhanced DBS and safer recruitment checks.
