About the Opportunity We are recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK. This is a key role within our Project Management Resource team which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be part of a large client lead team at EDF Hinkley Point B Power Station and this role will support multiple projects within their UK wide project portfolio which may include existing generation, nuclear defueling, nuclear new build and/or nuclear decommissioning. Over the last 46 years, Hinkley Point B has generated 311 TWh of low carbon and is now entering an exciting new phase in its life - defueling and decommissioning. This involves the safe removal of all spent fuel from the reactor core, the cooling ponds and stores whilst looking ahead and preparing for deconstruction. At a time of nuclear resurgence working for our company at Hinkley Point B offers a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within an operational defueling environment whilst also looking ahead to future potential opportunities in nuclear new build or decommissioning and deconstruction. - HSE Engineers are accountable provide positive leadership on HSE matters within the Portfolio Project Teams and promote the adoption of best practice, with an enthusiastic HSE culture that delivers positive commitment to and engages all employees in continuous improvement in HSE performance. - The HSE Engineer will monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSE Management system and progress against HSE Performance Standards and will make recommendations for improvement as appropriate. The HSE Engineer is accountable to the client PPM or equivalent Group Head, with functional responsibilities to the client HSE Lead. This role has no direct reports. - The role will be based at EDF Hinkley Point B Power Station and will require from time to time, business travel to UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible, however the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station. In this role you will report to the Operations Manager, but be accountable for project delivery directly to the client. - Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture. - Good communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused tempered with a team-centred approach. - HNC in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent. - Current qualification/knowledge of the CDM Regulations. - Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate, Construction Certificate or NVQ Level 3 - Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) desirable - IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management - Operational knowledge of current HSE legislation associated with project work - Good communication skills and the ability to develop network and working relationships with other groups involved in project delivery - Suitable relevant experience working as a HSE Professional in a project context.
