UHB is one of the largest Trusts in England and has one of the largest HIV departments based on the Queen Elizabeth site treating patients in both outpatient clinics and inpatients. The UHB HIV service is the leading HIV service in the Midlands with the highest prevalence of HIV outside of London. Our expertise and experience is nationally acknowledged.
In this role, you will lead and support the provision of the clinical pharmacy service to HIV. You will manage our Specialist Pharmacy team members to develop the service including pharmacist-led adherence and prescribing clinics and as we further develop our electronic prescribing system. Harmonisation of practices across our sites will support the need for service development.
You will also support developing the strategy and direction of the service with the clinical service lead and represent pharmacy in relevant specialist networks, and in joint work within our locality to integrated care system (ICS) and other bodies (e.g. CSU's and NHSE) at local and regional level.
There will be a strong emphasis on supporting you in developing clinical leadership and mentoring skills to the next level. With the support of the Clinical operational and site leads, you will complete core directorate activities such as reporting and analysis of medicines expenditure.
The Trust has close links with local universities and you will be involved with supporting the undergraduate pharmacy teaching.
Main Duties of the Job
* Has leadership and management responsibility for the HIV service provided by the pharmacy team on the Queen Elizabeth site.
* The post holder will manage the service delivery of pharmacists working within the HIV on the QE site and work alongside their counterpart on HIV on the Heartlands site.
* The post holder will provide a specialist clinical pharmacist service to the HIV specialty.
* Interprets the needs of the specialty and negotiates a range of pharmacy services to meet them. Represents pharmacy to the specialty, and ensures pharmacy and medicines management are taken account of in the specialty's development plans and day-to-day operation.
* Plans and implements developments to the pharmacy service to the specialty.
* Line manages Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Trainee Pharmacists, and Undergraduate Pharmacists seconded to the specialty for experience.
* The post holder will manage, lead, develop and participate in practice research, risk management, clinical intervention monitoring and clinical audit, including managing interface issues.
* The post holder will provide managerial and professional support to the Specialist Clinical Pharmacist -- Sexual Health.
* To take full part in clinical/dispensary rota and bank holiday duties.

Essential
* 4 year vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
* Post-graduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience
* Member of The General Pharmaceutical Council
* Qualified as an independent prescriber
Desirable
* Membership of the RPS
* Credentialed as a consultant-ready pharmacist with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
