About the role...
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role is responsible for the Central Finance team, managing audit, tax, business overheads, central recharges and timetable adherence for the business. This is a great opportunity to undertake a challenging and highly stimulating role where you can make a significant impact to the business and benefit from exceptional career development.
This is a full-time permanent role and will be based at our office in Chorley along with working from home on a hybrid basis.
What will your day look like...
1. Management of the multi-functional business overheads including review and oversight of the annual budget submission, monthly reforecast and monthly management account variance analysis
2. Managing relationships with the functional leads, ensuring a good financial understanding
3. Management of the cashflow forecast and variance analysis for the business overheads
4. Management of the payroll and central recharge process, including maintenance of the net pay & other control account
5. Completion of the monthly presentation board pack for review by the shareholders, including robust commentary on financial performance of the business covering P&L, cashflow and balance sheet
6. Responsible for all business tax matters for the business, including (but not restricted to) VAT, Construction Industry Scheme, Corporation Tax, ensuring all required HMRC submissions meet the stipulated deadlines
7. Management of the finance timetable and period management in the ERP system
8. Completing monthly bank reconciliations
9. Management of the annual external audit, including maintaining a strong relationship with counterparts within the business' audit firm
10. Input and support into the Statutory reporting process for the business
About you...
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting roles at various levels, with a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Qualified in ACCA or ACA, you will bring extensive knowledge of corporation tax, VAT processes, and employee taxation, including Class 1a accruals and PAYE Settlement Agreement calculations. Experience in preparing and filing VAT returns, as well as familiarity with the Construction Industry Scheme and Construction VAT Reverse Charge, is essential. You will also have experience in managing audits and maintaining relationships with auditors, ensuring compliance with accounting practices, statutory regulations, and reporting requirements. Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills are key, along with excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
