About the Company:
EMBS Engineering Ltd is currently working exclusively with a reputable, market-leading precision engineering company that specializes in fabricating, machining, and assembling small to medium-sized complex components for globally recognized OEMs operating within the aerospace and defense industries.
As part of their continued growth due to new orders, our client is looking to expand its quality team and therefore is recruiting for either an established Quality Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.
Due to the nature of the markets our client supplies into, all candidates must be UK residents, and DBS checks will be required. Please note we cannot offer visa sponsorship for overseas candidates.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Champion and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the quality department, using Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
2. Generate and communicate detailed Inspection Control Plans, ensuring they align with customer and internal specifications.
3. Apply problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5Y, and FMEA to address internal corrective actions and reduce process inefficiencies.
4. Lead and facilitate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), ensuring effective resolution of non-conformance issues.
5. Manage COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) and COQ (Cost of Quality) metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
6. Develop and submit concession requests and supporting documentation.
7. Support the continual development and refinement of the Business/Quality Management System (QMS).
8. Actively participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, providing expert guidance on quality requirements.
Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:
1. Proven experience in a quality engineering role within a precision engineering environment, with a strong understanding of machining and fabrication processes.
2. Background in sectors such as Aerospace, Motorsport, F1, Defence, Nuclear, Power, or Petrochemical.
3. Demonstrable experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives, with strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt desirable), and process optimisation.
4. Expertise in problem-solving techniques, including 8D, FMEA, and RCCA.
5. Familiarity with managing COPQ and COQ to drive process improvements and reduce waste.
6. Knowledge of ISO9001 standards and experience in maintaining compliance within a highly regulated industry.
7. Experience with APQP, PPAP, and other quality planning tools.
