Job Title: Social Housing Roofer
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
Job Summary: We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Roofer to join our dedicated team responsible for reroofs on council properties in Birmingham. As a Social Housing Roofer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and comfort of residents by carrying out installations on flat and pitch roofs across council-owned properties. You must have your own vehicle. Must have own tools, ppe, cscs and drivers licence.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough inspections of social housing properties to identify roofing issues, including leaks, damaged tiles, and general wear and tear. This will be on flat roofs.
2. Pitched roofs, and guttering.
3. Reroofing and installing.
4. Replace damaged or missing tiles, slates, or shingles to ensure the integrity and weatherproofing of the roofs.
5. Install and repair flashing, fascias, soffits, and other roof-related components.
6. Identify and address underlying issues that may affect the long-term performance of the roofing system, such as structural damage or insulation problems.
7. Work closely with other tradespeople, such as plumbers and electricians, to coordinate repairs and ensure a comprehensive maintenance approach.
8. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used, time spent, and job completion details.
9. Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
10. Provide excellent customer service to residents, addressing their concerns and keeping them informed about the progress.
11. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Experience:
12. Proven experience as a Roofer, preferably within social housing or property maintenance.
13. Extensive knowledge of various roofing systems, including flat roofs, pitched roofs, and guttering. Reroofing.
14. Proficient in identifying and resolving common roofing issues, such as leaks, damaged tiles, and poor insulation.
15. Familiarity with relevant materials, tools, and equipment used in roofing repairs and installations.
16. Ability to interpret and follow technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
17. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
18. Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with residents and colleagues.
19. Valid driving license.
Working Conditions:
20. This position requires working primarily outdoors, often at heights, and in various weather conditions.
21. Some work may be required in confined spaces or at times when access to roofs is challenging.
22. Occasional weekend or evening work may be necessary to accommodate emergencies or urgent repairs.
