Our Wealth and Personal Banking business supports millions of individuals, families, business owners, investors and entrepreneurs worldwide. We provide products and services that include current accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as savings, investments, insurance and wealth management. We also have specialised relationship managers who support customers with bespoke requirements, including high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
This is an exciting time to join the HSBC UK Credit Risk Management team. We have multiple roles available due to continued growth and investment across Retail Banking. These opportunities can be based in Birmingham or Sheffield with Hybrid working from home.
You will have the opportunity to work with an award-winning function (winners of best credit modelling & risk team of the year, consumer credit team of the year, best use of technology in 2021 and Outstanding Conduct in Collections -2022). As part of our package, we provide a range of training to support your continued development of banking, credit risk, leadership and technical skills. With multiple teams across the risk department, there are plenty of opportunities to grow and develop in your way!
In this role you will:
• Lead and contribute towards a range of analytical projects within the team whilst ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of these projects by delegating effectively to peer analysts and offshore teams.
• Contribute to and have influence on the project planning process, liaising with line manager and stakeholders on a regular basis.
• Prioritise planned activity, whilst effectively managing and challenging requests for unplanned or ad-hoc work.
• Positively support the vision and strategy of the department, working with the Senior Leadership Team to engage and motivate more junior team members and peers.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
• You should have an analytical mindset with the ability to manage complex queries and metrics
• You should be a competent communicator, able to explain analytical conclusions to a non-analytical audience
• Some experience within a Retail Credit Risk or analytics department in a large financial institution (or equivalent in other industries) is essential.
• SQL and/or SAS programming. Capable of writing complex macros, data extraction queries, producing structured analysis datasets and performing statistical analyses and tests against the data.
This role can be based in Birmingham or Sheffield only.
