Job summary Hingham Surgery is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is offered on a part-time basis, for 18 hours per week, over Monday to Wednesday. Working alongside our existing HCAs and practice nurses, the healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice. The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The healthcare assistant role within general practice can be very different to the role within other settings and as such applications from those with previous primary care experience would be desirable. We are looking for a proactive and well organised person, ideally with previous experience as a healthcare assistant or as a phlebotomist in general practice. Main duties of the job Blood pressure checks. Vaccinations. ECG recording. Phlebotomy. Managing INRs. Chaperoning duties. Updating patient health records. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses. Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment. Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording. Surgery equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation. Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being.
