Laboratory Technician / Chemist
The Opportunity:
If you are an experienced Chemist, Industrial Chemist or Laboratory Technician, then this could be the perfect role for you. This position will involve working in a Chemical Laboratory within a busy engineering firm. There are currently two shifts available, being a late shift Monday to Thursday or a night shift Tuesday to Friday (see below for working hours).
The Role:
This vacancy is a great opportunity for you to progress in a busy, hands-on laboratory and factory setting. Working in a well-established, award-winning facility as part of a small Chemistry team on the late shift, working a 4-day week but earning a full-time salary.
The successful candidate will assist the Senior Process Chemist in the analyses, control and maintenance of all wet processes/chemistry and assist in the running of the water and chemical waste treatment. Responsibilities include:
1. Control and troubleshooting of all wet processes (Chemistry)
2. Involved in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes
3. Maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with maintenance schedule
4. Ensure that water and chemical waste treatment controls are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements
5. Use of documentation control systems - paper and electronic
What you will bring to the Team:
1. Preferably 2+ years of experience in a Chemist's role.
2. Logical thinking and a good application of the scientific method.
3. A degree in Chemical Engineering or another Chemistry-based qualification.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent data and statistical analysis skills.
5. Ability to maintain a high level of detail.
6. Good understanding of technical documentation.
7. The ability to work unsupervised in a Night Shift role.
Benefits:
1. The starting salary is £29,640. After 6 months and subject to meeting the required performance criteria, the salary will increase to £31,320. The highest grade in the department is £40,308.
2. The late shift attracts a bonus of £7 per day, and the night shift £15 per day.
3. Quarterly Company bonus scheme - can be up to 12% of your salary!

Working Hours:
1. Night shift: 6pm - 6am - Tuesday - Friday
2. Late shift: 12 noon - 10.30pm Monday to Thursday
