Join Sense as a Holiday Leader and Make a Real Difference
Sense Holidays give children, young people, and adults with complex disabilities the opportunity to enjoy new experiences, meet people, and have fun in a supportive environment. These unique holidays take place across the UK and typically last 4 to 5 days, including overnight stays.
As a Holiday Leader, you’ll play a vital role in coordinating and leading one of our Sense Holidays. You’ll be responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and exciting environment where holidaymakers can thrive. Working closely with a team of volunteers and staff, you’ll ensure that everyone has a positive and memorable experience.
What you will be doing on a Sense Holiday
Lead and support a team of volunteers to provide high-quality care and support for holidaymakers.
Collaborate with the Holiday Coordinator to follow a pre-planned schedule of activities tailored to the needs and interests of holidaymakers.
Welcome holidaymakers and their families, offering reassurance and ensuring a smooth start to their holiday experience.
Deliver and adapt a variety of activities, ensuring they are accessible, engaging, and safe for everyone.
Monitor the wellbeing of the group and lead on resolving challenges or issues as they arise.
Maintain a safe environment by adhering to Sense’s policies, including completing safety checks and keeping accurate records of any incidents.
Act as a positive role model for volunteers, offering guidance, support, and feedback throughout the holiday.

Skills required
Experience supporting individuals with complex disabilities or communication needs.
A commitment to person-centred care and putting the needs of holidaymakers first.
Experience working alongside families and carers with professionalism and compassion.
Experience supervising, coaching, or guiding others in a team setting.
Understanding of policies related to the safe storage and administration of medication.
BSL qualification or experience with a total communication approach is desirable.
A current adult first aid certificate would be desirable.
