Therapeutic Teaching and Learning Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapeutic Teaching and Learning Assistant (TLA) to join the dynamic team at a Primary school based in Catford. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them develop key skills such as co-regulation and self-regulation, with the ultimate goal of supporting them to thrive and learn within a mainstream setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide therapeutic support to pupils through personalized tasks tailored to their interests and the curriculum.
Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and the therapeutic team (teacher, psychotherapist, Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Family Group) to build positive relationships and promote holistic learning.
Utilize a trauma-responsive approach to engage with pupils and families, creating trusting relationships with parents/carers during the pre-admission and settling-in stages.
Assist in preparing parents/carers for life within the resource base, supporting them to better understand and support their children's learning and emotional needs.
Contribute to assessments, referrals, and progress reporting as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Essential Criteria:
Proven experience working within a specialist provision for pupils with complex needs, including SEMH.
