In this role you’ll act as a CTO in-residence, serving as a technology & strategy advisor for key AWS enterprise customers. You can be based in our AWS Australia (Sydney or Brisbane) office but will have remit across Asia-Pacific region.
Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)
AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.
Key job responsibilities
1. Advise AWS customers on how to increase their speed of innovation, the efficiency of their IT, and the business value their technology generates by adopting cloud technology from a people, process and technology perspective.
2. Lead proposal development for outcome based business-IT solution recommendations for AWS adoption in collaboration with sales, solution architecture, and business development.
3. Ensure that the solutions developed across organizations align to enterprise architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet business objectives (cost and benefits).
4. Act as a subject matter expert in the development of business outcome framework integration with AWS methodologies, tool suite selection, and design and methodology execution.
5. Serve as the AWS executive technical sponsor for strategic customer initiatives.
6. Actively participate at industry events with thought leadership about cloud, technology and modern ways of working.
7. Engage with system integrators and strategic ISVs across multiple customers.
8. Identify patterns across customers’ needs and challenges to help AWS publish white papers, customer technical case studies, blog posts, pre-sales first call decks, and other content that will drive scale, standardization, and repeatability.
9. Able to travel up to 60% of the time and communicate effectively in virtual settings.
A day in the life
This role supports various AWS customer segments and industry verticals with a regional scope in Asia-Pacific. You’ll work with internal Sales and Solutions Architecture leaders, and advise our largest and most strategic enterprise customers on how they can transform the way they use technology to deliver business value. You’ll spend the majority of your time engaging with customers, using your personal experiences in Cloud transformation to help accelerate their business outcomes. Your secondary focus is thought leadership, including writing and speaking externally, and growing the organisational capability internally.
Enterprise Technologists are proven experts and thought-leaders in complex business-IT transformations including platform modernization, enterprise systems, digital transformation, cloud deployment and migrations, governance, software development, and enterprise architecture. They have experience in leading global technology strategies with enterprise companies, developing strategic technical initiatives, and driving multiple complex customer engagements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. 10+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent.
3. Experience developing technology solutions and evangelising end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing.
4. Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, publications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent.
2. Knowledge of large scale automation and workflow management or equivalent.
3. Knowledge of database design and implementation or equivalent.
4. Knowledge of presentations and whiteboarding skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers.
5. Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud.
