We are looking for an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant to work as part of our Pastoral Team, supporting the wellbeing of children across the school, delivering one to one and group sessions focused on social and emotional development.
The role plays a vital part in the Pastoral Team, consisting of the Inclusion Lead, Assistant SENDCo and Home School Link Worker.
Key roles and responsibilities
To work closely with their line manage, Home School Link worker to improve the outcomes for children with Social, Emotional and mental Health needs
Plan and resource interventions, using the Graduated Response (assess, plan, do, review),
Deliver time-bonded, targeted interventions for individuals and groups focused on a specific outcome
Work closely with the Home School Link Worker supporting the delivery and monitoring of groups, with both children and parents/carers, such as transition groups and young carers
Pastoral support for children on a proactive and reactive basis
Attend meetings and liaise with external professional, as required
Responsibility for ‘The Den’ (ELSA office) and shared responsibility for ‘The Burrow’ (Pastoral room)
Keep updated with current practice and resources, implementing new initiatives
Behaviour support, as needed
Work with the Pastoral Team to provide a ‘soft start’ and lunch time support for identified children/groups
To support children through the development of positive relationships, pastoral support, and the promotion of self esteem
Report any concerns, problems or incidents, e.g. safeguarding, behaviour in accordance with relevant reporting procedures.
Engage with supervision to ensure own wellbeing
Full-time (32.5 hours per week). Would consider some flexibility for the right person, no less than 26 hours.
