The NCC’s Aerospace team are positioned at the forefront of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and High-rate Next Generation Single Aisle development programs. These initiatives aim to revolutionize aircraft manufacturing while supporting ambitious government efforts to anchor whole aircraft / large workshare in the UK economy.
To support this, the NCC’s Aerospace Chief Engineers team is seeking an inspiring and experienced Deputy Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership and governance, establish industrial technology partnerships, and help drive strategic sector ambitions.
As Deputy Chief Engineer, you’ll take a key leadership role, ensuring the technical quality and engineering excellence of aerospace programs within the NCC’s £16m+ Aerostructures portfolio. Working alongside a program manager, you’ll develop local sector strategies, foster strong customer relationships, and identify new opportunities to grow and diversify the portfolio. Key responsibilities include:
* Defining sector technology development needs.
* Influencing internal capability investments.
* Providing technical leadership for major projects and programs.
* Establishing sector roadmaps.
* Coaching and mentoring engineers involved in these programs.
With a wide range of technologies feeding into these programs—from design to automation, digital engineering to flying demonstrators—this is an exciting opportunity to innovate and take a leading influential role in the UK's Aerospace R&T activity.
So, what are we looking for?
* Leadership: You have experience as a technical leader, with a record of ensuring high technical standards and governance in work packages / programmes of work.
* Technology: Experience of composite materials, technology application and manufacturing processes are essential. Experience within the digital engineering space as well as a good understanding of manufacturing toolkits, automation and systems engineering would be beneficial.
* Production: Experience in the production / NPI of composite structures within industry is essential, with certification / approval knowledge desirable.
* Network: Established relationships with OEM's, Tier 1's or the supply chain.
