The School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics (EMP) – Thermofluids Lab, led by Dr Stefano Landini and Dr Jack Panter, at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, is keen to host Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships and is encouraging applications to the 2025 Call.
MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowships provide excellent financial compensation and research support for the best or most promising researchers, enabling them to move to an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country (of which the UK is one) for 12-24 months.
The Call opens on 9 April 2025, and the submission deadline date is 10 September 2025.
We would particularly like to invite expressions of interest for applications within the following areas of research:
* Thermal Management of Electronics or Batteries
* Latent-heat Phase Change Materials (PCM) based thermal energy storage
* Solar thermal collectors with embedded latent-heat based storage
* Two phase liquid-gas or evaporative cooling
The School will provide support and guidance to develop selected promising applications that fit into one of the research areas listed above. All expressions of interest should meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme as well as the additional criteria for support by UEA.
Eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Postdoctoral Fellowship, applicants must hold a doctoral degree, and must have no more than eight years of full-time research experience. Applicants can be of any nationality but must not have resided or carried out the main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals.
Additional criteria
Applicants must have a track record - appropriate to career stage - of peer-reviewed publication(s) in internationally recognised outlets.
Expressions of interest
Expressions of interest should be emailed to Dr Stefano Landini (s.landini@uea.ac.uk) and Dr Jack Panter (jack.panter@uea.ac.uk) by 20th April 2025. Your expression of interest should consist of the following:
1. A copy of your CV (following the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship guidelines, a maximum of 5 pages).
Selection Process
Expressions of interest will be assessed by Dr Stefano Landini and Dr Jack Panter. They will be in contact with the applicants who demonstrate the strongest potential to set up a Teams call to further discuss the candidate profile and project proposal.
The selected candidate will then be supported to submit a formal expression of interest to the UEA Faculty of Science panel chaired by the Schools’ Research Directors.
The most promising applicant(s), based on the relative strength of CVs and proposals in relation to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie award criteria, will be provided with further guidance and support for the purposes of submitting a full Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship application to be hosted at UEA.
Please ensure that you consult the comprehensive guidance documents on the Marie Skłodowska-Curie section of the European Commission’s Funding & Tenders Portal before starting your application.
