Studio Egret West is looking for a qualified Urban Designer to join its new Manchester Studio, based in the Makers Quarter Kampus.
About
With the main studio in Clerckenwell, London, Studio Egret West is growing a new satellite studio in Manchester. Studio Egret West is an award-winning multidisciplinary practice of 87; architects, urban designers, landscape architects, graphic designers, model makers and filmmakers working on a range of mixed use place-making projects.
Our growing portfolio of UK and European projects leads us to seek a talented Urban Designer to join our new Manchester Studio, within the Makers Quarter Kampus. This is an opportunity to get involved in the expansion of our practice, with the ambition to have our second studio in the UK, as well as pop up studios overseas.
We are looking for professionals with some experience working on large masterplan projects, with the skills to take projects into planning and beyond. You will be a lateral thinker, problem solving and creative urban designer looking to make a difference in matters that affect our world.
You will work in mixed teams of urban designers, architects and landscape architects and large external design teams. Your workload will range from evolving large-scale framework plans to more detailed masterplans of varying densities and characters, focused on mixed-use urban placemaking.
Proficiency in Revit is desirable, but training can be provided. Experience in Microstation and Rhino would be beneficial. A great imagination and graphic skills are a prerequisite!
We offer a collaborative working environment, with the opportunity to develop your own knowledge and that of other disciplines within the studio. As a company, we actively support your professional development.
Minimum Requirements
1. Excellent communication and coordination skills
2. Sketch/develop designs on paper or digitally
3. The ability of working directly with clients and other consultants
4. Ability to work effectively in large project teams
5. Good working knowledge of Adobe Suite skills
6. Experience in running large-scale residential and mixed-use projects
7. High density housing experience (preferably pre-planning stage)
8. Relevant permit for working in the UK
