The Disability Social Care 0-25 Service is recruiting a Social Worker for our growing 0-18 Children with Disability Team. This is a part-time role of 22.2 hours.
We are seeking a Social Worker who is eager to progress and be part of a service dedicated to providing the best outcomes for children with disabilities in Peterborough.
This is an opportunity for you to be part of a dynamic team who support families from the first point of contact, all the way through to adulthood. This role is based within the Peterborough area, and our team is working within a hybrid model that enables working from home as well as being based at Sand Martin House, Peterborough.
We believe in giving young people and their families choice, control, and flexibility in how they manage their support needs, and the right to access inclusive services and be a part of their own community. Social workers will be expected to use a Person-Centred Planning approach in seeking the views, wishes, and feelings of the children and young people we work with.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a lively and dynamic team which acts as the first point of contact for disabled children who require a social care assessment in the Peterborough area, as well as supporting children with lifelong disabilities on a long-term basis. The team regularly undertakes safeguarding enquiries and court work, and therefore experience of statutory safeguarding practice is required. The team also supports a number of children who are Looked After, and experience in this area would be desirable. We work very closely with our partner agencies to support children with disabilities and their families.
We are looking for qualified social workers with at least 1 year of post-qualifying experience who are highly motivated, experienced, and committed to working with disabled children and their families. The role offers excellent training opportunities and a chance to play a real part in the creation of a very rewarding and dedicated service.
We recognise the importance of transferable skills, and we provide a focused induction, so there is no requirement to have previous experience of working within a disabled children's team.
For many Social Workers, it is about making a difference. When you work in the 0-18 Children with Disability Team, you really can.
This is a great opportunity for you to work within a diverse and supportive team who will empower you to make important decisions and find creative solutions to challenging situations.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity. We believe this is beneficial for our employees, the organisation, and the communities we serve.
