The role is to support the delivery of the National Centre for Child Health and Technology (NCCHT) project by assisting the Construction Director & project team.
You will have an HNC/HND/Degree in Construction, Buildings, or Building services, as well as experience in Construction management & project delivery. Knowledge of Auto-cad, Construction Design and Management regulations (CDM), & experience in healthcare projects would be advantageous.
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing building & engineering projects, from planning through to completion, commissioning, and handover. You must be familiar with compliance, risk assessments, & health and safety standards in a Healthcare estates environment. Reporting to the senior projects manager and occasionally to the Head of Estates, you will be a key member of the team responsible for minor and major projects. This demanding role requires someone with the determination to succeed in delivering the department's objectives.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide effective delivery of minor and major building and engineering projects in-line with the Trust standing instructions and Estates department policies and procedures.
2. To provide effective technical support to the Estates department and wider organisation in order to ensure the reliability and efficiency of building structure, fabric, finishes equipment and services.
3. To write technical specifications for building / construction / engineering projects, in preparation for tender. Working knowledge of Computer aided design packages (CAD). Training and updates will be provided.
4. Be responsible for placing purchase orders and authorise payment of invoices relating to Estates Capital works, at a designated level of authority.
5. To assist in the co-ordination and development of the Departments quality system.
6. Responsible for the undertaking of Risk assessments and implementation of actions identified through the risk assessment process.
7. Develop skills and knowledge of Modern methods of construction as a key driver for current and future Trust developments and projects.
8. To have a sound understanding of the Construction Design and Management regulations (CDM) and responsibilities in the context of Hospital projects and construction schemes.
9. Awareness and knowledge of effective management of Asbestos to deliver projects.

Essential
1. First Degree, HND, HNC or proven graduate level ability/experience in Building services or Construction
2. Working knowledge of project management applications.
3. Experience of working on NHS / Hospital projects
