About The Job
To provide support to the Financial Accounting Manager and the Syndicate Finance Operations team to ensure the monthly and quarterly reporting processes operate in an efficient, controlled and timely manner. The role consists of the control and reconciliation of the Oracle ledger and assistance with the daily workflow processes.
The key areas of responsibility are the transactions originating from Subscribe 2000, ensuring underwriting transactions are correctly recorded, cash transactions are either paid or received and anomalies are challenged with the relevant departments.
A member of the Service Company Accounting team of Accountants responsible for the financial accounting for the UK based Syndicate service companies.
The role also consists of managing a team and the ownership and management of premium trust fund controls on behalf of Head of Finance.
What You’ll Spend Your Time Doing
* Recording: Processing/reconciling data provided by other departments in respect of accruals, adjustments and all other non-interfaced data
* Reconciliation: Reconciliation of underwriting figures between source systems and Oracle. Assist in the production of month end reconciliations
* Maintenance & control: For allocated work cycles ensure timely and accurate recording of accounting entries and adjustments in the service company general ledgers. Reconcile to independent sources and between systems. Provide analysis of key accounts on a monthly basis ensuring that reconciling items are properly followed up, documented and resolved.
* Month end: Production of month end files with relevant back up for the trial balance and evidence of operation of controls and completion of task lists. Ensure data is captured and allocated to the correct level of detail to support the month end reporting balances and facilitate management review. Communicate with the UK Financial Planning and Analysis team to provide management and board reporting to company stakeholders
* Group & statutory reporting: Perform monthly MI submission of the trial balance, supplementary notes. Completion of half yearly Group Reporting Templates and other Group procedures. Production of annual UK GAAP (or equivalent) Statutory Report and Accounts and financial information for inclusion in the associated board reporting. Manage Auditors by providing the information needed at year-end and interim audits, these include external and internal auditors
* Technical knowledge: Remain up to date with IFRS and UK GAAP accounting requirements to ensure that transactions are properly recorded
* Projects: To become involved in ad-hoc projects as they arise. Projects will include group-wide systems and process enhancements to improve the timeliness and quality of reporting
* UK Operations Team deliverables: As and when required support the wider UK Operations team in the production of deliverables such as board reporting. This will be most common during quarterly reporting
* Team Working: Supporting and developing the team that are directly managed and to facilitate this, expand your own knowledge around the DXC process. Providing cover and assistance as required within the UK Finance team
* Settlement Working Group: Obtain reports from other departments (incl. Credit Risk, Payments, Treasury, Synd. Finance), and arrange monthly meetings with representatives from other departments, challenge and discuss suspected breaches; maintain action log and escalations
* Co-ordinate information to assess if breached any premium trust rules of premium trust bank accounts
