Join our team and embark on an exciting career journey as a Consultant Radiologist at The Countess of Chester Hospital.
The Radiology Directorate is part of the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services Division. The directorate provides a diagnostic imaging service to inpatients and outpatient services across two sites: Countess of Chester Hospital and Ellesmere Port Hospital. In addition, the department provides a GP direct access service for plain film, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. The Trust is also the South of Mersey Vascular centre (SMart Centre) providing a networked vascular service for Chester, Warrington and Wirral patients.
The Countess of Chester Hospital has consistently invested within the Radiology department and has ensured that the environment and the equipment meet the needs of a modern, changing diagnostic service. Our latest developments include our replacement Interventional Radiology suite with built-in floor space for future expansion and our new state-of-the-art cardiac CT scanner.
The Countess of Chester site has 3 CT scanners (1 cardiac scanner) and 2 1.5T MRI scanners. The department has a suite of ultrasound scanners. The general department is fully digital, including wireless portable equipment. The department performs approximately 15,500 MRI scans, 30,000 CT scans, 2,000 Interventional procedures, and 31,000 ultrasound scans per year.
The successful candidate will be expected to integrate into the team of existing Consultants to provide a complete diagnostic service including the reporting of CT, MRI, ultrasound and plain films. The post-holder will be expected to have, or to develop sub-specialist skills to complement the rest of the team. Specific interest in Paediatrics, MSK or Cardiac radiology is encouraged; however, not essential.
This is a full-time position but candidates wishing to work part-time or in a job share are encouraged to apply. If a part-time or job share person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed with the appointee on a personal basis to meet the needs of the service.
