Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated Therapy team at Priory Hospital Southampton. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality occupational therapy interventions, working with individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges. You will be integral in supporting patients on their recovery journey, enabling them to achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group therapy interventions tailored to the needs of patients.
2. Develop and deliver personalised treatment plans that promote independence and well-being.
3. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and support staff.
4. Contribute to discharge planning, ensuring continuity of care and effective transition back to the community.
5. Provide education and support to patients and their families, helping them understand and manage their conditions.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
7. Manages and co-ordinates the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.
8. Receives and responds promptly to referrals undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis. Maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patient’s rehabilitation / progress.
9. Ensures the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.
10. Maintains and develops close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards.
11. Leads on implementation of new services within own site, sharing best practice with other sites in the area.
Requirements:
12. A degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
13. Previous experience in mental health settings, preferable but not essential
14. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate patients.
15. A proactive approach to continuous professional development and willingness to participate in supervision and training.
16. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
