Salary: £38,000 per year
Work Arrangement: 1 day WFH, Flexible working hours, Half day finish Friday
Position Overview
The Technical Writer will play a critical role in developing, managing, and distributing technical information that enables end-users to effectively operate and maintain the clients' equipment. This position involves both creating and overseeing technical content production, ensuring that end-users receive precise, accessible documentation as part of the equipment package.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop detailed instructions, including step-by-step guides for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment.
2. Distribute technical documents as part of equipment packages and through electronic formats, ensuring easy access for end-users.
3. Provide content based on assignments from Principal Technical Writers and department Managers, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
4. Independently accept assignments, outline project scope, and develop action plans for completion.
5. Assign work to Technical Writers and Graphic Designers to meet project goals and timelines.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communications, or related degree, or related job experience.
2. Understanding of bill of materials, engineering release notices, and engineering drawings required.
3. Understand principles and processes for communicating about technical subjects.
4. Experience with current communication technology (including web conferencing tools, search engines, email, text/chat, social media, etc.).
5. A working knowledge of structured authoring (HTML, XML, DITA) is required.
6. Experience using structured authoring software is required (ex.: ArborText Editor, Oxygen or other XML editing tools).
7. Experience using graphic design/editing software is required (ex.: Adobe Illustrator; Adobe Photoshop).
