Job Description
Cutting edge scientific research organisation seeks to recruit a Legal Manager to take a senior role within their legal and IP team.
This newly created position will report to the Head of Legal, working as part of a team which includes legal, contract managers, IP and data professionals.
Responsibilities:
* In this position you will lead on contract negotiation, advising and drafting complex, high value contracts including supply, research, collaboration, IP and public sector terms
* You will assist in navigating complex bid/tender opportunities
* Review contractual and operational frameworks associated with the bids and also procurement
* Manage legal support on large scale national and international research projects
We are looking for:
* Ability to work 3 days a week in south Nottingham, for this reason our client seeks a local candidate
* At least 5 years’ experience working for a business, public sector or law firm in the UK as a legal adviser handling complex commercial legal advice and drafting/negotiating UK commercial contracts. Please only apply if you have gained this hands-on experience, no less will be considered. Please don't count experience as a student/Intern.
* Prior experience working with complex bid and tender processes
* Strong working knowledge of public sector contracts
* Some experience with IP law would be a benefit but not essential
* Law degree or other legal qualification
* Right to remain in the UK. Our client can not sponsor a UK visa.
* Able to work at a senior level advising senior management and well-respected scientists
* Strong negotiation, drafting and problem-solving skills
* Comfortable working in a high-pressured, time-critical environment as an integral part of a supportive legal and IP team
* Excellent communicator who can think outside the box
