Introduction
Our client is a Defence organisation who are looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join their team of 12 who are supporting projects within the Defence/Government sector.
The role is data-heavy, so they are looking for someone with a high level of accuracy who wants to work with the wider business to support projects!
They will consider newly/part-qualified accountants for this role, who are looking for an exciting career and next step!
Working Patterns: This role is based in Bristol on a hybrid basis with 2 days per week on site, 3 during busy periods.
Key responsibilities
1. Work with large quantities of data to review performance of projects and assist with the financial aspects of bidding, project set-up and management accounting.
2. Maintain and understand staff costs and timesheets in relation to project billing and performance.
3. Work closely with the practice managers and delivery and Bid/project managers along with the wider finance team to ensure robust accounting procedures are in place.
4. Provide pricing and bid support to bid/project managers and Directors, including overseeing the creation and integrity of bid models.
5. Provide productivity and volume variance reporting.
6. Review overhead bookings ensuring they are appropriate along with completing accruals and prepayments as required.
7. Ensure all costs attributed to the delivery of contracts are captured accurately in the financial management toolset.
8. Develop project accounting skills through training and on-the-job knowledge transfer.
9. Undertake project reviews as and when required.
10. Ad hoc projects and support to the Financial Controller.
Skills & experience
1. A part qualified / newly qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
2. Knowledge of finance processes, standards, and systems will be advantageous.
3. The role will require some travel.
4. A strong eye for detail and experience within a data-heavy environment.
5. Well-developed commercial knowledge and business understanding.
6. Strong technical accounting skills and good Excel skills.
7. Broad understanding of tax and compliance matters.
8. Comfortable working with varying levels of stakeholders.
