Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Specialist to join our team at Inverinate. This is a permanent position that requires a strong background in cattle and sheep herding.
* Maintain a herd of breeding cattle as per the estate's requirements
* Accurately record all cattle and calf births, deaths, dosing, and movements
* Arrange handling days as per individual season requirements
* Responsible for herd husbandry and welfare
* Maintain a flock of breeding sheep as per the estate's requirements
* Accurately record all sheep births, deaths, dosing, dipping, and movements
* Arrange sheep gatherings, shearing, and dosing as per individual seasons
* Responsible for flock husbandry and welfare
* Familiarity with the Animal Welfare Act 2006
* Carry out all grassland works, fertilizer, cropping, dung, field rotation, etc.
* Fence and gate maintenance, erection, and repair where applicable
* Keep all agricultural sheds, buildings, yards tidy and well presented
* Cutting trees/grass on lawns, verge, keep all grounds tidy and well presented
* Assist with hill road and Argo track repairs/maintenance
Additional Occasional Duties:
* Assist clients and guests during visits in varied activities as and when required
* Assist during deer culling and counting season
* Carry out general maintenance on the estate
* Any other general estate duties as and when required
Requirements:
* Proven experience working with a large herd/flock of cattle/sheep and other livestock in varied climates and conditions
* Highly experienced in calving/lambing
* Good working dogs
* Experienced in the use of farm machinery and equipment
* Proven ability to use ATVs - Quads, Gators, Argo's
* Possess a full valid UK driving license
