The Position
We are currently recruiting an Assistant Site Manager to join our established construction department in Birmingham. Our Lower Essex Street scheme in Birmingham consists of 628-units comprising of an 8-storey, 12-storey, and 27-storey blocks.
In addition to supporting with all construction management activities on site, the Assistant Site Manager will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the subcontractor construction team to monitor and report on their works on site and then advise the Site Manager of any issues or programme concerns. This will also include reporting into the Site Manager any risks, opportunities, and any mitigation strategies to maintain the project completion date.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assisting the Site Manager in ensuring that all RAMS for both direct and subcontract works are in place and suitable for the activities being undertaken as listed in the Risk Register.
Supporting the implementation of the Project Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan to include all stakeholder requirements and interfaces.
Assisting with site progress meetings involving the subcontractors to ensure the effective and efficient organisation of labour onsite.
Recording the labour levels onsite via allocation sheets on a daily and weekly basis.
Understanding the risks and opportunities of potential change orders through the process of the project.
Supporting the wider team in fostering and promoting a strong team culture, which encourages open and transparent communication throughout the project teams.
Working in conjunction with the Site Manager to review actual construction progress to prepare and maintain an updated project programme.
Complying with the Galliard Construction Build Policy and Procedures.
Ensuring quality standard are met throughout the project and raising issues with the Site Manager when appropriate.

The Assistant Site Manager will thrive in a fast-paced construction environment, demonstrating a strong commitment to achieving high standards and will be able to meet the below criteria:
Essential:
Previous experience managing subcontractors onsite and ensuring the correct level of services is being provided.
High level of analytical and numerical skills.
Good communication skills across face-to-face, telephone, and email interactions, with a professional approach.
Able to work autonomously and collaboratively.
Results focused and committed to seeing a task through.
Professional honesty and integrity in dealing with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
An awareness of modern construction techniques, including:
Piling
Reinforced Concrete Structures
Cladding Systems
Mechanical and Electrical Services
Fit Out Trades
First Aider at Work qualified.
Desirable:
An understanding of preconstruction activities.
Educated to HNC level or equivalent (Construction Management / Project Management / Skilled Trade preferred).
Previous high-rise residential construction experience.
SMSTS qualified.
Fire Marshall qualified.
Scaffold Inspection qualified.
