About the Role: We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring classroom practitioner with a real passion for Science. Applications are invited from both newly qualified and experienced professionals. This is a permanent, full-time position starting in September 2025. As a subject teacher you will be required to complete the professional duties that are expected of a UK qualified Teacher in accordance with academy policies and procedures and your subject specialism. You should promote the achievement of high standards through effective teaching and learning within your subject area, including the preparation, application and development of lesson resources in alignment with the curriculum, as directed by your department head and senior leaders within the academy. You will be responsible for effective classroom management and the coordinator of class work with any classroom support staff that are present. You must evaluate lessons and incorporate student views and responses to reflect and identify areas About the Department: The Science Department at Outwood Academy Ormesby is a dedicated team of 8 teachers and a one-to-one tutor. The department fosters a collaborative and supportive environment, ensuring that students remain at the centre of all discussions and decision-making. Our team consists of experienced teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and senior leaders who work together to provide high-quality science education. We have a well-equipped department with 3 labs and 3 teaching rooms, each fitted with modern equipment, including interactive displays, visualisers, and practical resources to enhance learning. We are also supported by an experienced science technician who helps facilitate engaging and safe practical lessons. Our KS3 curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity and develop scientific thinking through a blend of theory and hands-on experiments. Students explore key scientific concepts across biology, chemistry, and physics, engaging with topics such as cells and organisms, chemical reactions, forces, and energy. We aim to provide an immersive and inquiry-led approach to science that builds strong foundations for further study. In KS4, students follow the AQA GCSE Science specifications. The curriculum is fully resourced with high-quality materials developed by staff across the trust, ensuring consistency and excellence in delivery. Our department benefits from the support of expert science directors who provide guidance, professional development, and opportunities for collaborative teaching to further enhance our expertise.
