Description We are currently looking for a E-Cigarette Assessor to join our E Cigarette Function within the Healthcare Quality and Access group. This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites. We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Who are we? The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The objective of the Healthcare Quality and Access portfolio is to drive quality and critically appraise benefits and risks to inform robust decisions on healthcare access including accelerated access pathways. It will do this by bringing together a fusion of our capabilities across both medicines and medical devices to enable licensing and market access, as well as ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The Authorisation Lifecycle function is an enabler, central to delivery of the frontline HQA group. It includes data assurance and quality, high-volume certification work, the operation of a notification scheme for e-cigarettes and coordination and support to the frontline functions. It also includes some more complex activity that supports across the product lifecycle such as medicines and medical devices, borderline, patient information and medicines advertising. What’s the role? The role is accountable to the unit manager. It is to support on all aspects of e-cigarette regulation under the relevant legislation. These include operation of the notification scheme, collaboration with other regulators particularly those responsible for enforcement and tobacco. Key responsibilities: Managing the review of notifications submitted for MHRA supply in the UK. This will include quality assurance of notifications and managing action with the companies where a notification has not been accepted. Working with submitters to achieve regulatory compliance during and after the notification process where non-compliance is later established. Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, liaising with other teams within the Agency to ensure successful operation of the notification scheme Identify relevant trends and issues and highlight these for intelligence development. Produce reports for investigators and senior management within a fast paced and high-pressured environment Who are we looking for? Our successful candidate will: Communicating and Influencing - Good interpersonal, communication and written skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the team, staff in other divisions and external contacts, including situations requiring input from others. Strong collaboration, negotiation and communicating skills are essential. Ability to deal with issues that require the input from others where resolution may require resolving differences of views. Delivering at Pace -. Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise large volumes of work to meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality. Experience of working in a consumer regulatory framework requiring multi agency collaboration or other relevant area. Understanding of the e-cigarette market and its regulation and potential safety issues and the need for further research on e-cigarettes. Scientific or technical knowledge in the area and the ability to interpret the information provided and make appropriate recommendations under pressure.
