Senior Payroll Compliance Specialist
Location: Birmingham
Working Model: Hybrid (3 days on-site)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: 12-month contract
Salary: £35,000 - £44,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Description: We are currently seeking a Senior Payroll Compliance Specialist to join our clients ever-growing team in Birmingham. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to lead and oversee payroll compliance activities within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Payroll Compliance: Ensure compliance with all payroll-related regulations, including tax laws, pension regulations, and employment legislation.
* Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll compliance efficiency and effectiveness.
* Internal Controls: Develop and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate payroll compliance risks.
* Audits and Reviews: Conduct regular audits and reviews of payroll processes and data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Specialist Payroll Service: Process correct and timely salary payments to designated payroll areas across our FTSE 100 client (including Channel Islands, Isle of Man, and international employees), and provide a specialist payroll service.
* Subject Matter Support: Provide specialist payroll subject matter support and advice to the broader payroll department, including understanding the impact of legislation changes and completing manual payroll calculations.
* Central Payroll Function: Manage central payroll function processes to support payroll team members and key payroll service delivery.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regional legislation regarding payments to employees, income tax, National Insurance/Social Insurance, pensions, and National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage.
* Governance and Controls: Ensure payroll compliance and governance in line with Group and business audit controls, local business controls, and the UK & Ireland legislative framework.
* Process Improvement: Identify weaknesses or inconsistencies in payroll and system processes and make recommendations for improvements.
* Test Strategy and Testing: Work closely with Project Teams to create client-facing Test Strategies and Test Cases. Oversee scheduled and ad-hoc functional and regression testing of new and existing core functionality to ensure high-quality standards are achieved for all software releases.
* Approval and Reversals: Ensure payrolls are completed accurately and timely following set checks and balances, obtaining approval before finalizing. Accurately process payroll reversals when required, including results table analysis.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a payroll compliance role, preferably in a senior or leadership capacity.
* Strong understanding of payroll legislation, tax laws, and pension regulations.
* Excellent analyzing and problem-solving skills.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office suite.
