Job summary The Screening Pathway Navigator will form an integral part of the multidisciplinary Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) team in caring for the physical, social and psychological needs of patients and carers following a FIT referral, throughout the diagnostic pathway and up to the point of referral for cancer or discharge to recall or surveillance. The post holder will liaise with the Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP) team, who will have regular direct contact with patients, providing support, advice, signposting and assistance for those requiring a diagnostic test (Screening Colonoscopy or alternative test) following an abnormal (FIT positive) screening test. The role will also involve administrative tasks deemed suitable to the role by the Lead Nurse and Programme Manager. To assist the SSP's to ensure that patients are signposted in a timely manner to appropriate services following their electronic Health Needs Assessment.
