Band 6 to 7 Progression Post
Are you an ambitious, motivated pharmacist, striving to continuously improve patient care and experience? This position is for you! We have an exciting opportunity to join our established team of pharmacists in post that offers structured progression from a Band 6 to Band 7 position within an 18-24 month period.
Newly qualified pharmacists will begin at a Band 6 level which will provide you with a solid foundation in all the essential areas of hospital pharmacy. We will support you to gain funding for a clinical diploma and help you to build a portfolio aligned to the RPS Post Registration Core Competency Framework. On completion of well-defined developmental gateways and submission of a portfolio of evidence, you will progress to a Band 7 pharmacist.
During your foundation rotations, you will have the opportunity to work with our external partners in BSW Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) and later, progressing to more specialist rotations such as in critical care, paediatrics, local neonatal unit (LNU) and HIV medicines supply.
Main duties of the job
* To provide a clinical pharmacy service to wards including information and advice on the safe, effective and economical use of drugs to health professionals and patients.
* Clinical ward cover on a rotational basis in the following areas: surgery, cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, elderly care and acute admissions.
* Progression to specialist rotations in critical care, paediatrics and neonatal care as well as HIV.
* Medicines Information and patient line rotation.
* Responsible Pharmacist duties within the dispensary.
* Embarking on further training to support progression i.e., clinical diploma, independent prescribing.
* Maintaining a personal portfolio of evidence.
* Following the band 6 - 7 transitional programme and completing relevant tasks associated.
Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* Member of General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Commitment to CPD in line with GPhC recommendations.
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
* Post graduate clinical certificate, primary care pathway qualification or equivalent.
Experience
* Clinical Pharmacy: demonstrates a core knowledge of therapeutics and pharmacology.
* Demonstrates an appropriate level of clinical reasoning and judgement.
* Demonstrates the ability to problem solve.
* Demonstrates awareness of current NHS agenda.
* Hospital experience as trainee or undergraduate.
* Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
Knowledge & Skills
* Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Able to undertake long periods of standing, heavy lifting, and pushing/pulling on a daily basis.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Good Interpersonal skills.
* The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients.
* Good Organisational skills.
* A good standard of written English.
Other Requirements
* Willing to work in other areas of the Trust or Trust-wide as and when needed.
* Able to undertake regular VDU usage.

Salary: £37,338 to £52,809 a year pro rata.
