Join to apply for the Specialist Mental Health Midwife role at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a key role in developing and maintaining high standards of care for women and their families with mental health challenges in pregnancy and the postnatal period.
The post holder will work closely with women and their families to plan and coordinate their care based on their individual needs. The post holder will provide an essential link between the Maternity service and other services involved in mental health care, including Stockport’s Infant Parent Service, the GMMH, CCG, Perinatal Mental Health Team, and Perinatal Services in the High Peak.
Responsibilities
* Provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence, acting as a professional role model by providing leadership and support within multidisciplinary and midwife teams.
* Work closely with the Community Matron, adopting the Stockport Family ethos of restorative practice to positively support development of the perinatal mental health service.
* Deal with complex emotional and psychological issues as they arise, with clients, their families and professional colleagues. Adopt a skilled approach utilizing counselling skills.
* Communicate appropriately within a multidisciplinary team to devise an appropriate plan of care. This may include liaising with specialist midwives, social workers, community drug, child protection and mental health teams.
* Represent the trust at Perinatal Mental Health Network meetings, including reporting to CCG commissioning managers and Quality improvement managers.
* Attend regular supervision to discuss cases with Lead Clinical Psychologist (Infant Parent Service).
* Offer a skilled understanding of the Infant Parent relationship. Link in with Stockport’s Infant Parent Service.
