Clinical Lead for Allied Health Professions (AHP) Dementia Care

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new National Allied Health Profession (AHP) Clinical Lead role in dementia, hosted within Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. You will work alongside the National Consultant AHP Lead for Dementia with access to a Personal Assistant.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and professional leadership and advice relating to the role of the Allied Health Professions (AHPs) in Wales working with people affected by dementia throughout the health and social care system.
The post holder will work alongside the National Consultant AHP Lead for Dementia to lead and develop a programme of work that demonstrates the value and impact of AHPs across dementia care and facilitates AHPs to maximise their contribution to dementia plans and their implementation.
The post holder will lead on supporting the All Wales AHP Dementia Network in order to work collaboratively to share and develop best practice, contribute to research, education and audit. Demonstrating the value and impact of AHPs across dementia care, by collaborating and identifying opportunities to share learning and support planning and coordination of AHP projects, programmes and funds across Wales.
Although this post has been advertised as a fixed term appointment, NHS staff will be offered the appointment as a secondment. If you wish to apply as a secondment opportunity, you must have your line manager's approval.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to liaise and communicate effectively across Health Boards/Trusts, Social Care and other key stakeholder organisations to support constructive challenge and opportunities for AHPs to discuss concerns/issues and problem solve in a safe environment.
The post holder will need to consider local and organisational needs and policy direction in addition to national guidance that may be issued by Welsh Government, professional organisations and regulatory bodies.
This role will cover key pieces of work in line with the aims in The Dementia Action Plan for Wales and its companion document Strengthening Provision in Response to COVID-19, the Allied Health Professionals Dementia Framework for Wales, and the AHP Framework in Wales - Looking Forward Together.
The post holder will be required to communicate, influence, negotiate and collaborate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and senior leadership, including staff working within Health Boards/Trusts, Social Care and other key stakeholder organisations.
The post holder will research best practice and contribute to the evaluation of initiatives that are developed nationally and locally that increase the capacity of AHPs as an integral, but underutilised, part of dementia care.
The successful applicant will be recruited from one of the 13 AHP HCPC registered professions in Wales and will be expected to have a dementia care background.

Person Specification
Qualifications and/or knowledge
* Educated to Masters level in relevant subject, or equivalent level of demonstrable experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
* Professional Registration with the HCPC.
* One of the 13 AHP HCPC registered professions in Wales.
* Evidence of maintenance of appropriate skill set through active participation in CPD and appraisal/revalidation as appropriate to professional group.
* Formal training in leadership.
* Working knowledge of Welsh Government policy and AHP strategy in relation to health and care and dementia.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of working in a dementia care setting. Evidence of expert knowledge of the value and impact of AHPs in dementia care.
* Knowledge of the strategic direction for NHS Wales.
* Teaching qualification.
Experience
* Extensive knowledge and experience of working in a dementia care setting.
* Experience of leading and influencing change within dementia care setting.
* Demonstrable experience of partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders throughout Health, Social care and Third Sector.
* Evidence of service redesign using improvement methodologies.
* Evidence of participation in research, audit, quality improvement.
* Experience of leading and implementing strategic change on dementia care.
* Delivery of objectives through multi-stakeholder negotiations.
* Evidence of project management and delivery at a senior level.
* Experience of postgraduate teaching in a higher education setting.
* Published academic papers.
