Apprentice Surveyor (Infrastructure Team)
Do you have an interest in influencing the places where we live and work?
Have you ever wondered how our utilities are networked to reach all parts of our country?
To support our ongoing growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Surveyor to join our Infrastructure team in Banbury.
Fisher German is a fast-growing, leading national firm of UK Property Consultants and Chartered Surveyors, with over 800 people across 26 offices, offering a wide range of property services in 6 key sectors: Rural, Commercial, Residential, Infrastructure Services, Development and Sustainable Energy.
As our clients’ requirements evolve and grow (from natural gas to hydrogen; from conventional to renewable electricity generation; from regional water networks to national strategic resource options), so does our capability and our expertise. Our Infrastructure division stands out – why? Because we truly understand the impact of infrastructure on property and on the people who own and live on the land.
We know that for most utilities and infrastructure companies, the interaction between them and the landowning communities has to be honest, equitable and sustainable. Your role is to help ensure this happens and learn from exceptionally talented colleagues.
What would I be doing?
Our Apprentice Surveyor will be based out of our Banbury office. You will complete your apprenticeship studies at the Harper Adams University and will enrol onto the Chartered Surveyor (Rural) Degree Apprenticeship (level 6) in September 2025. Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you can expect to achieve a BSc (Hons) Degree and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). Alongside the experience you gain in your work, this will help you achieve Chartered membership of the RICS (MRICS) as the final apprenticeship (end point assessment) outcome. The apprenticeship will help you to develop the knowledge and skills and all the behaviours required for a career to become a successful chartered surveyor.
The apprenticeship route will last 5 years and will run alongside a permanent contract. Your work in the office will be complemented with week blocks of study throughout the year, onsite at Harper Adams University. You will need to be self-motivated to complete independent study. Your work may be assessed via a variety of methods from essays, reports, tests, exams and work-based assessments.
What are the requirements?
You will be working from our Banbury office within an ambitious team. We are more than happy to teach you all the technical skills you need; it is your personal attributes and commitment to the role and your study that is key. We are seeking a person who can demonstrate the following:
* Entry requirement for the Level 6 Apprenticeship will typically be at least 3 A Levels (at grade C or above) or equivalent to 96 UCAS tariff points.
* At least Grade A*- C (or grades 9-4) in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
* Excellent people and communication skills - both verbal and written.
* A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to identify and solve problems.
* Adopt a consultative approach, able to identify and solve problems.
* Ability to undertake research, consider information and present findings to your colleagues and clients.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (namely Word and Excel).
* Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks at any one time, working in a way that is highly agile and responsive to rapidly changing client and site requirements alongside your studies.
* Commitment to continuing your studies in order to become chartered with the RICS.
* Access to transport or willingness to do so by the time you start work, as you will often be required to travel to out of town client sites.
