About the role
You will support business in all aspects of day-to-day Operational and Project Site SHEQ management, looking at Onshore Wind (operational/construction), Solar PV (operational/ construction).
What you will do
1. Be responsible for delivering to set SHEQ targets based upon an ever-changing work environment.
2. Support the Head of SHEQ manager in all aspects of day-to-day Operational and Project Site SHEQ management, looking at Onshore Wind (operational/construction), Solar PV (operational/ construction).
3. Conduct audits of both internal & subcontractor activities (covering site surveys, construction work and electrical and mechanical maintenance, LV, HV, DC & AC).
4. Review audit findings with the Project Managers and support closure of action items.
5. Carry out investigations into any hazardous observations/near misses or incidents that may occur on any of the projects, reporting findings and monitoring corrective actions.
6. Support the SHE aspects of the Integrated Management System; including but not limited to – policy and procedure development and roll out, incident management, SHE risk management, SHE training and audit activities; with specific support on SHE management related to Construction, Electrical Safety, Wind and Solar PV operations.
7. Communicate with internal and external partners on all SHEQ matters as appropriate, including external auditors, supporting with internal team SHEQ training roll out.
8. Analyse SHEQ data to support the SHEQ managers to resolve issues.
9. Attend operational meetings and deliver SHEQ messages on behalf of the SHEQ manager and directors.
10. Liaise with Internal and external clients, colleagues and 3rd parties where there are SHEQ activities to progress.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have:
1. A strong Health and Safety background, with minimum NEBOSH Cert qualification (or equivalent); and at least 3 years of Safety Management experience.
2. Strong interpersonal skills together with demonstrable understanding and experience of process safety and an appreciation of Solar PV and Wind Generation, including operational management requirements.
3. Experience in renewables or construction; and have proven knowledge and understanding of the basics of Health and Safety management required to operate an accredited ISO management system.
4. A high level of customer and service orientation and a strong willingness to learn and develop yourself.
5. Ability to work under pressure, a strong organiser, able to prioritise workload and multitask.
6. Ability to solve problems systematically and have an analytical and structured way of working.
7. Be a team player with good communication skills and with the ability to work independently.
8. Willingness to occasionally be part of escalation team to deal with out of hours emergency events.
9. An appreciation of, interest in or preferably a holder of a qualification in environmental management.
10. A willingness to undertake quality management training, or preferably to have a quality management qualification.
11. A willingness to get stuck in to the variety of SHEQ programmes that will be part of your day to day.
12. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively influence and support both internal and external stakeholders.
13. Prioritise/manage a diverse workload and meet targets and deadlines.
14. Excellent IT skills.
15. Valid UK driving licence.
