Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multi-disciplinary PCN team.
We are a dynamic, forward thinking PCN team who are passionate about developing and delivering excellent quality local services to meet the needs of our patients.
Due to the changes in the ARRS Scheme to introduce General Practitioners we are looking to expand our team by seeking to employ a newly qualified General Practitioner to work alongside our practices and PCN staff.
About us
Kingswinford & Wordsley Primary Care Network is a network of 5 practices with a list size of over 50,000 patients. This role exists to support the delivery of the Kingswinford & Wordsley Primary Care Network agenda. The post will form an integral part of the PCN leadership team working alongside the Practice Managers and the Clinical Director and the PCN Partners.
Job responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities
In accordance with the agreed Practice timetable, the post-holder will undertake a variety of duties, including:
1. Conducting surgery and telephone consultations, addressing patient queries, and visiting patients at home.
2. Checking, signing, and authorising prescriptions, while managing queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely manner.
3. Making professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred by other health care workers.
4. Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed issues.
5. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
6. Developing care plans in consultation with patients, in line with current disease management protocols.
7. Providing counselling and health education.
8. Admitting or discharging patients from the caseload and referring them to other care providers as appropriate.
9. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
10. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible.
11. Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary or generically, as clinically appropriate.
12. Undertaking emergency patient visits during surgery hours, if clinically indicated.
13. Participating in on-call sessions and home visiting sessions as allocated in the practice rota.

2. Committing to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practices.
3. Contributing to evaluation, audit, and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
4. Assisting in the development of computer-based patient records.
5. Helping with the summarisation of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
6. Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, as appropriate.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in a primary care environment.
* Experience of continued professional development.
* Experience of QOF and clinical audit.
* Newly Qualified General Practitioner (with under 2 years from qualification).
* Not previously been substantively employed at a GP Practice.
* General understanding of the primary care contract.
* Experience of medicines management.
* Experience of ICB initiatives.
Qualifications
* Qualified GP.
* MRCGP.
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP.
* General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
Skills
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
* Clear, polite telephone manner.
* Competent in the use of Office and Outlook.
