We are a dynamic and inclusive primary school based in Newport, dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where every child feels supported and valued. We are looking for a passionate, patient, and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide support across all areas of the school.
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to both individual students and groups across different year groups. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting children with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and academic challenges.
* Assisting in the delivery of the curriculum to help children engage, understand, and succeed.
* Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement tailored support plans for children with additional learning needs (ALN).
* Helping children develop key skills such as literacy, numeracy, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
* Promoting positive behaviour and supporting children to manage their emotions.
* Fostering a safe and inclusive environment where all children feel valued and supported.
* Building strong, positive relationships with pupils and assisting in the communication between home and school.
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for someone who:
* Has a genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
* Is patient, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
* Is flexible and can adapt to the needs of the school and its pupils.
* Works well as part of a team and is proactive in identifying and addressing children’s needs.
* Experience working with children or in a school setting is helpful but not required.

Requirements:
* Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
* Hold a Child-only DBS certificate registered on the Update System.
* Provide 2 professional references covering the last 24 months.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
