Leading on the key management and ethical issues relevant to Archaeology and Numismatics collections you will use your archaeological knowledge and digital skills to build connections between people and the material we hold. Collections strengths range from hyper-local (finds from excavations in the city of Manchester) to globally-connected (with particular strength in eastern Mediterranean civilisations). We are looking for someone who can incorporate socially engaged practice into the way that they work and who will include multiple perspectives from diverse communities in collections documentation and interpretation. Manchester Museum is proud to be part of the University of Manchester, so a diligent and engaging approach to building research and supporting teaching is essential. We are also one of the north’s most popular visitor attractions so you’ll need to be a brilliant communicator, able to talk about complex ideas to wide-ranging audiences. Your creativity will be critical to the continuous improvement and future redevelopment of our Archaeology Gallery and to developing inclusive public programmes within and beyond our walls.
